Wet your line in one of the best fishing streams in the Neuse River Basin. From the river banks you can catch largemouth bass, bluegill, chain pickerel, crappie, and bullhead catfish. The river is also home to the Roanoke bass, known as red-eye, which is found only in the Eno-Neuse, Tar, Chowan, and Roanoke rivers.
All regulations of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission are enforced and each angler over age 16 must have a N.C. fishing license except children age 15 and under may fish anywhere in the park with any bait without a license.

![Planting native species in your yard, garden, or wherever you have the opportunity to steward is a great way to support local wildlife and combat the effects of a fragmented landscape. Native plants not only provide food for native birds, insects, mammals, and other wildlife, but they can also serve as habitat! Native trees can provide nesting sites for birds and other species; some native bee species nest in the stems of certain native plants; and fallen leaves from native plants provide food, habitat, or, in some cases, both, for millipedes, spiders, and dozens of other critters with any number of legs. By planting native plants in backyards and gardens, especially in urban areas and neighborhoods, we can make sure that native species can travel across the landscape and thrive even in a changing climate and landscape.
