![Our Species Spotlight this week is the snail! 🐌🍂🌞
Snails and slugs are types of mollusks within the class Gastropoda.
Snails have four main body parts: the mantle, which is the organ that produces the shell, the foot which is the muscular organ the snail uses to move, the radula a structure containing teeth used for feeding, and the shell. In addition to some species being indicators of water quality, snails have many important ecosystem functions as pollinators, decomposers, and nutrient cycles.
